The History of Sourdough

Sourdough starter, known as sourdough bread, has been a known method for almost 5000 years. Although bread emerged with the beginning of agriculture, the existence of sourdough was not known at first. Archaeological remains of bread and sourdough are found in ancient Egypt. It is believed that the first sourdough was discovered by chance by wild fungi floating in nature. Therefore, the tastes of sourdoughs differ according to the different characteristics of climate and geography, and breads also vary accordingly. Of course, today, wild fungi are not hunted in nature to produce the first sourdough, but various experiments are carried out to obtain the starter dough
